Dear Community Members, 

 

My name is Akila Rudrasingam, and I am running to be your TDSB school trustee. I have been residing in the Rouge-Park area for over three decades. I attended Lester B. Pearson Collegiate Institute in high school, and I am a graduate of the Toronto District School Board. I completed the accounting program at Centennial college and continued my studies at Ryerson University.

 

I am a proud mother of three wonderful children. My children began their educational journey in the Toronto District School Board School system at Heritage Park Public School. I have been an active parent council member for the last fifteen years at Heritage Park Public School. During my fifteen years of service, I have held various positions, including Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.  My involvement in the community is not limited to the educational curriculum, it also expands to meet the interests of children such as recreational activities in sports, dance, and art. The parents of the students from Heritage Park Public School and Community members have encouraged me to be a Toronto District School Board Trustee candidate.  As our community is very diverse, a trustee from this community is needed in order to understand and meet the needs of our community; one that believes in creating social ties and bonds with their community.
